Thanks for the good wishes everyone! Should know in several hours if its a success.

And d'awww, I got the world's biggest warm fuzzy when I dropped Alice off at the vets.

This tiny pipsqueak of a girl comes in with her parents and dog. The moment she spots Alice, her face just lights up and she makes a beeline for us. "Awww, your rat is sooooooo pretty!" she exclaims. "Can I pet her?" After a quick glance at her parents to make sure they were okay with it, I opened the door to Alice's carrier and let the girl pet my kiddo for several minutes. Since Alice is such a people-lover, the two hit it off instantly. Then the parents came over and couldn't stop saying how absolutely adorable Alice was.

*Happy sigh*

SUCCESS!!!

Surgery went smoothly, and Alice back home recuperating.

HUGE weight off my shoulders now that the stupid lump was finally taken care of.

So glad to hear this :)

Let your rat tell you if she wants a night away from her friends to just rest or if she would rather be with her friends, then watch to see if she is being bothered beyond the initial hard sniffing over. If not, let her be. She'll be happier, which will make her heal faster with her friends.

So glad it went well! :joy:

I have only two girls, but a total of 5 surgeries between them so far, and each time, they showed me when they were ready to go back to their cage/cagemate. And it's worked out the same each time, interestingly enough. They spent the night when home from surgery solo in a separate cage, and in the morning, were very anxious to get back to their home cage/cagemate.

You will know .. healing thoughts to you little love

*Snerk* After a couple of hours, Millie tried to claw through the CN bars to get to Alice, so now she's keeping her company in the temp cage. Alice is definitely more happy now that she can use Millie's ample rear end as a pillow.

Keeping my fingers crossed that Alice will leave her sutures alone until they get removed February 15th.

Alice is doing alright then? I'm truly so happy for you! Nothing feels better than having your baby home where you can take care of her every need, til she lets you know that she wants to be with her buds. That feels best of all.

LOL! excellent!

Alice is doing remarkably well! She's back to her normal bouncy self.

And so far, the incision site is looking good - there's no inflammation, and I can see that the skin is starting to knit back together. Luckily, Alice (and Millie) has been leaving the sutures alone.

Awesome! I'm sure she'll be healed up in no time at all :)

Just went to the vet to get Alice's sutures taken out. Everything healed up beautifully!

I bet that Alice and Millie can't wait to join the rest of the rowdy gang tonight when I get home.
