Her name is Caroline. From what I can tell by pictures she is approximately a year old. I currently have 3 females, and I have no idea how to do intro's, other than to take it slow. I currently have this cage. However, I plan on buying 2 Double Critter Nations soon (one for my guys and one for my girls). Soo... you guys think I should wait to do intro's until get the DCN, or should do them before? ...or...... since I'm going to get my 3 spayed in November, do you think I should do intro's before spaying or after? :help:

I think you can go ahead and start intros before their surgeries. Introductions with females are usually easier than with males. That cage is a little crowded with four but it should be ok and it's better for the new girl to get buddies sooner rather than later.

CongRATS!

Thanks for the help! :)

@ Jorats
Since my niece is friends with the girl that I am getting her from I had her check to make sure that she (the rat, not the girl :giggle: ) was healthy.

I'm sure I will be posting many more questions as I get started with intro's and as I get their spays done :)
I'm also going to be getting my 5 boys neutered around that same time, needless to say I'm nervous.

I hated the idea of so many surgeries in one day. We have had 7 spays in one day here. Now i hate one surgery days LOL To me the more having it done they can heal with the others. I personally would rather intro 21 males to each other than touch an intro with 3 girls. Boys give up the mess faster girls seem to like to torment longer.

If you do get them all together though that I can say will be awesome. I have one group that is male only, 5 of them, my 3 other groups are mixed sex and I totally love it!

Cant wait to hear how the intros go. Make a post in the behavior part and you will get a walk through on what to do and how.

Adorable, congrats!

Will you be quarantining the little girl first? I suck at being patient so I would probably go ahead and start intros.

Same here. I'm actually finding that intros go easier when the rat hasn't had a chance to really get acclimated and establish territory in a new home. They are quicker to submit and play nice with new friends.
