Just wondering who takes their rat's for general checkups? and how often?

My rat's will be a year in may, so tomorrow all 9 are going for a checkup at the vet!

Back in the day when I only had 6 rats, I would bring them in every 6 months.
And that's probably why my vet and I developed such a good relationship.

I have a good enough relationship with my vet as it is, lol ..I am in there atleast once evry two weeks with at least one of my critters ..me and him have learned somuch it's amazing.

I don't personally, just stressing some rats (not all, but some of mine would stress) going to the vet with nothing obvious wrong. You can generally do a check at home, I know there are some things you might not see, but unless I need to, I don't take them to the vet for a checkup no. :)

Mine actually love going to see the vet!so its fun for them.

Had the checkup tonight!

Everyones in perfect health :)

9 ratties, 75 minutes ..$80 for a perfect bill of health!!

My girls will be a year old in a few months (can you believe it?!!?!!) and have never had to visit the vet *touch wood*, and i've been thinking about taking them in for a check-up. I normally take any new rats to the vet within the first week of getting them to register them and get a general look over but i didn't do it for the girls (no idea why lol).

My friend thinks im silly for taking them in when there is nothing visible wrong with them. Its good to see im not the only one who thinks this way :)

That's excellent Ratty Momma and it feels good to know that they are that perfect bill of health.

It really dose. Sure I can usually tell when something is wrong, but I just like the reassurance of my vet taking a look and doing what he does best. He checked their teeth, ears, skin, coat, heart, bladder, breathing, lumps, etc ..he did the whole shabang:)
