So my vet wrote me a prescription for Vibramycin syrup to fill at any pharmacy because he didn't have any on hand and he wanted to give me the option of having refills for my guys with ongoing URI's so that I wouldn't keep having to make the hour drive to see him every time I needed more :joy: I thought that was awesome. It gets better though, I had seen the flavoring options for kids meds at CVS before and it occurred to me that I should see if they could flavor the Vibramycin. First of all they were like "what kind of animal is this for anyways?" and I wish I could have taken a picture of the expression on the pharmacists face :laugh4: I'm used to that reaction by now though. So I asked her about the flavoring she asks, "Well what kind of flavor do you think your...rat... would like?" haha so even though I knew my fatties would like ANY flavor I went with the strawberry cause I usually mix strawberry syrup in with them myself. So it was an additional $2.00 which I think was totally worth it because now it tastes great! (Yes I do try a tiny bit of their meds just so I know what they're dealing with lol)

So I was wondering if this is ok to do? The pharmacy said it does not affect the effectiveness of the meds? It sure saves me a lot of trouble every time I have to give it to them! Has anyone else tried this? So far they loooovveee it :giggle:

My vet has like 30-something flavors and lets me choose from time to time. I tried banana bread last time and Kamchie sure hated it. X) She drools it out and desperately rubs her face against the floor.

The only flavour my vet has for baytril is tuti fruity and my rat's hate it, they rather it not flavoured at all. When I get Doxy with a prescription from my vet ..I bring it to a compunding pharmacy and they make the doxy tropical punch flavour, they seem to love this.

My vet also only has tuti fruity :wallbang: and my rats as well dislike the taste of it but i always mix the meds for them in something they do like yummy baby food. For Mozart he is very picky he knows when there is meds in anything tasty or not he does not care only thing i got him to take meds with is baby cereal(made with water as he is on doxy and there is no milk in baby cereal until you add milk :giggle: )

I remember with Mozart we had to force give his meds for a bit as he was wasting so much of it and even doing that it was very hard to do.

I've just gotten molasses flavored meds from my vet for the rats.
But for my ferrets, I go to a compounding pham for chicken flavor. lol, its brillant!

Mine are like that too when they know it's med time. I have to fight them off. They love their flavoured baytril and their pediatric Zithromax.
