Phantom went to the vet yesturday, and the vet cant figure out what's wrong with him. You can hear him breathing, similar to a myco flareup, but there's none of the red gunk near his eyes or nose at all. He also seems to have no fluid in his chest, and the doc says his weight and heartrate are perfect.
He's on Doxy and Baytril now to see if we can get it cleared up, but I was wondering if anyone's had this problem before?
It worries me that even the vet cant figure it out.

I've had times where my rats sounded sniffly but had nothing in their lungs. Sometime when you catch the resp infection early it hasn't had a chance to spread to the lungs. But after the course of doxy/baytril is you don't see an improvement then it might allergy or environment related as opposed to a resp infection.

The infection can start in the nasal passages and work it's way down to the lungs.
Rats don't always have porphyrin around the eyes and nose when sick, it's more when they are stressed dealing with the sickness but they don't always have it especially if they aren't affected to badly by their nasal congestion. Keep up the meds, hopefully this means you caught it early.
