Rose's teeth are going up against the final test. We've decided (my vet and I) to try to extract her one remaining top and one remaining bottom tooth. They have become extremely thick and grow at an alarming rate. I also feel that having her put to sleep and going through the trauma of having a trimming every two weeks is not good for her. Not to mention the toll it takes on my student wallet. My vet has never done an extraction before but is very knowledgeable about rats and has been doing a lot of research. He will also have support from another vet that works with him. It seems that the biggest risk to her health is extreme bleeding from the top tooth since it is surrounded by sinus tissue that could lead to death. There is also a chance of having to undergo another surgery to repair complications. I feel that this is the best option for Rose to live a happy and healthy life. I hope you will all support us.
