I am so very sorry.
Glad that you were able to take Emily to a vet.
Such a horrible weekend, glad you were able to do some things to support her.

Having our babies pts is such a hard decision to make but often the most loving thing we can do.

I wish vets could make changes so that someone was available for emergencies.

There are no exotic vets in the entire province of New Brunswick.
It is rare that the vet on call knows anything about rats.
My vet has been through a lot with me and my ratties over the years, and sells me meds that I keep at home. I also keep Debbie D.'s Rat Health Care book on hand and a digital postal scale. That way I can treat my rats (after checking by phone with the on call vet) at night or on weekends until my vet is available.

Omg poor thing, are you nuts, bring her to A emergency vet Right now!!!!

This little girl was indeed brought to a vet. It was determined that the eye could have been treated with surgery but due to her bad health, it was best to have her put to sleep.

Surgery on the eye was long range and only a slight possibility, likely to be successful and only would have happened if I absolutely insisted it be done. The vet wasn't pushing for PTS but was relieved I chose that option.
