There is something wrong with one of the sixteen babies that my rat had.
The skinniest one seems to be choking or something, I tried CPR and etc, and he wont stop!
I went in and pet them he was fine, I came back with a noodle for mom and now he has been doing it for about five minutes.
Does anyone know what is wrong or how I can help him?

He is convulsing and opening and closing his mouth.
Is her going to die?
I just don't know what else to do!
I thought maybe mom may have jumped off of something and landed on him maybe?
I don't know.
Cany anyone help?

Thanks.

He is 16 days, and he was choking before I gave mom the noodle. I tried to help him but nothing works. He just lies there and convulses, opening and closing his mouth.
ITS SO SAD!
=(

Is he on his side or his belly? Is he drooling or do you hear wheezing and clicking?

There must be a vet somewhere, no? Even if you have to drive quite a ways, it's worth it in my opinion.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the little guy!

No, there is only one exoctic vet near (a city over) and he is out of town!

The baby is walking around now, he seems to be moving okay but he is still making the noise. There is no sign of innnternal injury and the only thing he could have choked on is moms milk (or bedding, I suppose, but I have never seen any try to eat the paper towel or aspen chips)

No, I do not think it is a URI, he was fine last night/this morning, it was a very sudden thing.
The rest of them are fine, the room is warm, the cage is clean.
I tried helping him dislodge whatever it might be by genlty patting his back and outting tiny bits of slight pressure below the ribcage and I tried CPR. He is still moving around and making that noise, and I was taught in first aid if someone can move and cough they don't need help, so maybe it is the same for rats?

I don't know, I hope he will be okay!

:cry4:

cpr etc not a good idea ... too easy to cause internal injuries.
When a rat is choking and can not breath, then as a last resort you can try the rat fling (does not mean throwing your rat). If he can breath, he will need to work it out himself.
There is nothing you can do that might not cause worse injury.

Please see the link below re. choking rat and the rat fling, etc:

He got it out!
A bunch of milk finally came out his nose and now he is okay!
He's tired now, but he is okay!

I am so relieved!

Thanks for the sugestion.

Yes, I have been checking on ALL of them excesively, and I will be for a while.
I am so paranoid now!
He seems okay, though.
He is running around with the rest now and chasing mom.
I will keep an eye on him and keep you guys posted!
