It might be too soon to tell, but Rose seems to be improving again. There is much less spinning when I interact with her -- even when I pick her up. She used to try to spin in my hand when I picked her up, and now she seems more relaxed and steady.
Fingers cross for more improvement!

Poor sweetie - I hope she continues to improve again. I'm glad she has a loving, caring mom who will do whatever it takes for her. Lucky girl!

Rose is still showing improvement. While eating previously, she would lay her head down and eat sideways. Now she sits upright, holding the food in both hands, eating like a more normal rat.
However, she doesn't seem to be taking her meds as well. I mix them with strawberry Nesquik, soy baby formula, and a little bit of water. I use a syringe, and she used to swallow the food as soon as it went in her mouth. Now, she just lets it fall from her mouth onto me/my clothes. Are there any suggestions for something different I can use? Maybe she's just getting sick of the same flavour with her meds...

I bet that Metronidazole is the culprit. I had a couple of rats on it, and they hated it. Seems to me that it is especially bitter. If she took it willingly before, it could be what turned the tide for her.

So, time to add extra ammunition! Have you tried Kool Whip? It's awful stuff, very unhealthy, but rats love it. It's very sweet and fatty, so should hide the bitterness. Have a look at the thread "meds for those stuBborn ones".

So glad she is improving!

Back from the vet -- Rose is indeed improving, though she hasn't gained any weight, still at 190 grams. I got another 7 days worth of Dex, so hopefully the improvements continue.
Apparently I should be giving Baytril and Metro at separate times, about 2 hours apart, which I didn't know. So, hopefully she will improve more once I give her the meds properly.
