In this case, we think it is a tumour either in the ear or in the brain. I have noticed some other neurological symptoms too, so...

I know what you mean though. The most frustrating part of this whole thing is that for the first few weeks, I just couldn't figure out what it was. I thought inner ear infection, but then began to notice other things. Your right tho, not being able to help is the worst! But, in this case, if it is a tumour this is really the only thing that I can do (Dex and abs).

:hugs: I've gone through the whole "I know there's something wrong but I can't put my finger on it" and it really sucks.

She still seems happy and bright in those pictures, I hope you can keep her that way for a little longer.

Poor sweetie. It's so hard to watch them like that. Can you give her a smallish box (like a cereal box) so she can feel a ceiling over her head? That helps a lot to get her bearings.

LOL
Funny you should suggest this.

She doesn't like boxes.

I gave her a small box and she just threw it around. It would end up in strange places, like shoved into a corner taking up as small amount of room as possible or in the water bowl... more commonly in the baby cereal/ensure bowl. I watched her one time and she frantically tried to push the box away from her - you know how they are when they "clean up" their cage. It was entertaining to watch. She likes her pocket hammocks tho, so I just make sure that she has a pocket hammock to sleep in/under. When she was really dizzy she preferred the small sputnik as opposed to the hammock, so if it comes to that I will add the sputnik back to the floor of the cage.

Thanks for the suggestion tho :p

And thanks victoria, she certainly is still bright. Hopefully she can hold out with no problems for a bit longer.

I am confused now...

Delilah has not gotten worse and I have been reducing her Dex. She was at .09 for a while and now I have her at .07 and there is little change.
This morning she didn't take her meds (little bugger) so she maybe got half that dose? So I guess the real test will be tonight when I get home. See how she is then.

Maybe it was a really nasty ear infection that is slowly getting better now.

I dunno...
What a confusing case.

*sigh*

Unfortunately today we lost our battle. Still have no idea what went on... she had leg twitching like in an HED rat, except a bit stronger then what I have seen before. Her tilt seemed to be getting better... or maybe it just wasnt getting worse.

I snuggled with her this morning. I had a feeling that today was going to be the day. When I was with her this morning she could barely lift her head and she looked oh so tired, but relaxed too. I am relieved that she was able to peacefully fall asleep and that was it. I think she went shortly after I had left in the morning.

Her battle was lost, but also won because she is no longer suffering and she can run and play using her back legs and even at the right angle! Run happily at the bridge Delilah! Find Yoshi and Trixie... I'll take care of the rest of your family for you.

I'll have to take over keeping Lily in line now

She was my favourite Tim Horton's mascot :giggle:

Just shows how quick her decline was. I'm still amazed to see her in this picture, who would have thought?
