Chlorpalm and Loose poo

So my boy has been on Chlorpalm for nearly 5 days now and it has caused him to have some loose poo, it not diarrhea but its very soft. Is there a way i can help him get harder Poo?

You can give him probiotics. For faster results, I've always found unsalted saltine crackers to help. There is also the brat diet. (banana, rice, applesauce and toast)

I do give him yogurt with his meds but i guess that isn't enough huh? Hmm I do have apple sauce but i don't have rice or banana. Isn't there a choking hazard with toast, i have always been hesitant when giving things like toast or crackers to him.

Oh my, I just saw this. My little rattie is on chlorpalm for a ?UTI and she got the loose poos last night . . . I'm feeling better knowing that this is a known side effect. Saltines it is!

Mines on it for a URI he stopped responding to bydril so have put him on this. He has chest congestion. I asked the vet tech if there was any side effects but they said vet hadn't stated any but i kept eye out. Its only about 5 days in that its become actually loose poo.

If you are giving the yogurt with the meds, the probiotic is cancelled out. Your meds will kill it. You should wait a couple of hours in between.

You also want to make sure its probiotic yogurt, and as Joanne says, 2 hours before or after any antibiotics.
