On Sunday my little guy basically fell to the ground and started to roll around as means of travel with a very bad head tilt, his head went almost to the ground. After a trip to the vet yesterday the rolling has lessened considerably with his medication and he's been able to walk around a bit now. He's still not himself however, so I'm trying to find ways to keep him fed/hydrated throughout the day. Even a low to the ground dish is out of the question for both food and water as he still does his roll, and I'm not sure if he can get to the bottle as I still haven't seen him drink on his own. I go in every hour or two to bring the bottle to him and he drinks a bit. He won't eat his pelleted food, but will eat things like puffed wheat, soft seeds, vegetables, and some baby food.

Is there anything special I should be doing? I clean the cage out a few times a day of the dropped food, he's got a few layers of fleece on the bottom to hide in and I keep the cage covered as it seems to lessen his movement/rolling. He's in the smaller cage I use mostly for vet trips, it's the small superpet cage that's about 24 inches long by 12 inches wide.

Um, his oral medication is baytril and his ear drops say gentocin. Both are twice a day, two drops in his infected ear for the gentocin and 0.2cc of the baytril.

Was the head tilt caused by the fall?

Put a small box in his cage, rats with a tilt do better when they can feel a "ceiling" over their head.

Give your boy cereal boxes. With a head tilt they are disoriented and can't tell the ground from the ceiling so thin boxes will give them a roof right over his head and can help with any vertigo.
I've seen a few rats with head tilt and they do manage to eat and drink, it's just a little harder for them and they need time to adapt.
