can someone check these dosages for me?

Cookie is on oral pediapred solution for her pituitary tumour, I couldn't find a dose specifically recommended for that, but in general the dose she's getting *seems* to me about what the Rat Guide says, but then I suck at math so.......... can someone check these for me?

Cookie weighs 440 grams or about 15.5 oz, almost a pound


the baytirl dose I was told to give her is 0.1 ml

the bottle says quantity 5
baytril 22.7mg

the dose for pediapred oral solution I was told to give her is 0.2 mls
(the bottle says Quantity 10 pediapred oral solution 120ml bottle)

are these correct?

OK here we go

Pediapred is 1 mg/ml
The range for recc. dosage is .55 - 2 mg/kg. I like to start in the middle-high to take effect if its going to, but still give me room to go up if necessary.
For her I would use 1 mg/kg giving you a dose of .44 cc's once a day

The baytril you have is 22.7 mg/ml
I use 10 mg/kg and her dose would be .2 cc twice a day.

Pediapred is 1mg/mL? I think the dose for Cookie should be .44 cc's twice a day (or .88 cc's once a day) but I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right concentration. (@2 mg/kg, which is what I usually get for PT.)

At 10mg/kg, I calculate her Baytril dose to .19cc's 2x a day.

so she's under-dosed on both?!?

vet has her on the baytril only once a day, for ten days

the pred is supposed to last a month, at 0.2 mls per day

I'm going to give her another dose of Baytril now,
should I wait til tomorrow to up the Pred, or is it ok to give her more now?

I think it's ok to give it now. My vet always prescribes Pred to be spread between two doses.

The baytril is just to prevent infection while she's on the prednisone, right? I'm pretty sure (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that it is okay to give once a day for preventative? I've been prescribed it twice a day for preventative but I swear I read that somewhere.

no it was prescribed because she was sneezing when she was at the vet.

no it was prescribed because she was sneezing when she was at the vet.

Ah okay, then twice a day is definitely needed.
