I see a lot of you have cage liners... I'm getting a new cage soon (either from Martin's Cages or FN) and wanted to get some sort of liners for at least the upper shelves so it's comfy for them.
Do you only use a liner for the bottom if they're potty trained? My ratties are definitely not potty trained at all. Would I have to wash it so much that it would be more obnoxious than anything? I have three girlies.

Thanks in advance

I make/sell liners for the FN/CN cages, so they are definitely what we use in our cage!! We have 3 boys in a double, and change the liners 1-2 times a week - the liners and hammocks end up being about 2/3 of a load of laundry, so we add in some towels. I reckon when we have more rats in there, we may up the liner changes to 3 times a week, so then rat laundry would just be its own load - still no hardship. My boys aren't potty trained at all, although they prefer to poop on the bottom most level, they pee everywhere. But You can put liners on all 4 levels and put litterboxes with some other litter in them - that works well for a lot of people.

Yay, that's great to hear. I do laundry every few days anyways, so that doesn't seem so bad at all. The liners always look so nice and comfy. I'll have to get my hands on some once I figure out which cage to order. This is all so exciting. :joy:

I put down fleece on the bottom and the shelf. If you do go with FN, try to go for the CN instead, it's much more safe for rats with the smaller bar spacing.

I'm glad you said that, I couldn't see the bars real well in the picture. CN seems to be a little more expensive but.... go big or go home!
