For the last few days, Cadillac has not seemed her usual self. Her fur is less soft, it gets puffy more often, she submits to being pinned, and she is a little thinner. I wasn't sure whether she was eating solid lab blocks, even though I know she can hold things in her paws no problem, and she eats softer food easily. One day she ate the treat food as if she had never been fed for days.
Anyway, I took her to the vet for a checkup. Her lungs and heart are fine, her gait is fine, she walks and climbs like a younger rat, but she does have a small lump in her abdomen. It does not seem to hurt her, and the vet said that it is not attached to the organs, but he advised me to watch it carefully and to bring her in if it gets bigger.
She's out with the others in the playpen now, as active as ever, but I am acutely aware that her time with me may be short. She's about 28 months now. I am so attached to my beautiful PEW girlie that I dread anything happening to her.
