Poor Billy was making drainpipe noises when I got home (sounded like fluid in the lungs), so I made the decision to give Lasix. I wonder if the weekend's breathing problems has put a strain on his heart? He's in good spirits, though, and still interested in food.

Anyway I will continue to watch him carefully. I cleaned Charlene's half-FN out when I got home today, so that I could put Bill and my other two oldies up at eye level.

I realized that I haven't given any more update for Bill's fan club!

Bill is doing OK, although I think the illness (and the mysterious fatty lumps that gained him 200g) have put a strain on his heart. He got gurgly breathing later in the week, and I had to use Lasix for a day. Now that he has a bit of benazepril, I don't need the Lasix any more. He can't go up even a gentle ramp, and he is completely incontinent, but he trucks around on one level (pooping as he goes, LOL), but he seems pretty happy. The glucosamine doesn't seem to have helped his mobility, alas.

His appetite has returned full force! You should see him wolf down his Sunday morning porridge. But he isn't insatiable; he stops when he's had enough.

Needless to say I have to clean that cage really often. The other two are happy to sleep with him in a clean hammock, but when they move upstairs I know it's time for a clean one.

Bill is a sweet gentle giant, so I hope he will live for a while yet.
