Barret's Abcess - Growing again - Now Theodor?? page 2

Ok good, I'll keep doing the flushes.

After a neuter, I'm not supposed to be able to feel anything that feels like testes...right? Now I can feel that Theodor has a large lump in the center, right under his penis. I don't see any black like I did with Barret's and his neuter was over three weeks ago. PLease tell me it's not another abcess!!!

Unfortunately, these seem to be quite common. At least they heal fast.

How common are they? Like 50% of neuters?? These two weren't even done on the same day and maybe not by the same Dr. It seems weird to me.

I never started the Baytril for Misty or Theodor because the vet wouldn't increase the length of treatment. She said she would need to see them again, but nothing has changed...she said since she didn't hear anything in the lungs there isn't a problem. I still don't like the sound of the sneezing fits. Anyway, I have a total of 14 days worth extra. Should I start Theodor on the Baytril now or wait til I see the head of the abcess?

I soaked Barret just now and it looks like the scab is starting to come off. There's still a whole bunch of black lumpy pus inside. I think the wound is going to get a lot longer once the scab comes off.

Theodors lump feels smaller today, still no sign of scab or anything.

Personally, I've never dealt with a neuter abscess when my vet does a neuter but I sure read about it a lot.

I am so upset right now The poor boys haven't even been here for 2 weeks and I'm forcing all this horible treatment on them. I've had Barret out with me for at least an hour every day and he's still so unbelievably scared. He has wet fear poops on himself, me, the floor...He cries and shivers, and just sneezed out more porph than I've ever seen, I thought he was bleeding from his mouth. He's scratching the crap out of me.
He wasn't too bad when I first took him out tonight but did have lots of loose poops in my sleeve, then I had to give him his soak and his meds, and he was really stressing. I got him to stay in long enough that the scab came off though.

I stop soaks once the scab is off and start just with flushing which is over much faster.

Even after I got the scab off last night, it didn't seem open enough for flushes to do much. I think I might have to do at least one more soak today before I move on to flushes.

Another plus to no soaks...No wet rat corn tortilla smell lol

It looks very small...just flush over the cavity and some will get in.

I know it's hard... But these boys are going to get better because of your hard work. Hang in there.
