Atta has a tumor... bad news, they came back worse.

Thanks I hope she heals up quickly and nicely. I'll take some pictures of her tomorrow for comparison for my records. Atta is the first rat I've had to do a tumor removal on.. so it's a new experience for me. I'm just thankful I haven't had to do one up until now! Tumors are very nasty things.

Just thought I'd give a quick update Atta is doing amazing! Her staples will be removed later this week, and she finishes her meds on Thursday. It really is amazing how quickly rats heal - she looks great already! (I like to say she just has nipple piercings now! Lol).

I'll get some more photos of her once the staples come out

Unfortunately I don't have a good update... about two weeks after the removal the tumor came back - this time in two places. They have been growing insanely fast, and I made the decision on Friday that it would be best for her to be put to sleep. She has an appointment for 5pm tonight with a local vet that see's small animals. I'm going to go cuddle her and spend my day with her. She is still bright and happy, but the cancer is too malicious, spreading too fast, and she is in pain. She can't even move her front leg today, and the bottom second tumor is raw and sore. I know I tried everything I could. It just doesn't seem fair that such a loving sweet girl can be subject to such a nasty cancer. Poor Atta :sad3: :sad3:

Thankyou... She's free of any pain and suffering now. I miss her deeply, but know it was the right thing to do. It really stinks that rats are prone to so many health problems.. I know we all wish it weren't so. Rest easy, Atta. :cry3:
