He was very ill, and then had surgery, now he's home and recuperating. Dr. Hammond is a decent vet with rats just not for surgeries.

Mmhm, Dr. Munn was sick on my first visit to the Greenwood Park Animal Hospital, but I got to see Dr. Hammond. She seemed quite knowledgeable about rats, and handled my ratties with such care. I haven't seen Dr. Munn yet so I don't know how she "compares" to him, but from my vast experience with vets in general, Dr. Hammond is golden.

OK new problem, his wound has opened up even further and is about the size of a rats eye.

He is better, but now I'm worried what will happen between now and Tues at 5:20 if it's left open or gets bigger or bleeds more if he digs deeper.

Any suggestions to plug the hole or something to keep it at bay till then????????

What does it look like while is opening? Is there black around the edges, a foul smell? pus iniside the cavity?

SOrry I sent it again. No smell, it's just open, red and you can see the meat inside. No tears it's perfectly round, the edges are clean.

No not anymore, the antibiotics seem to have done that job. It's just open.

This morning it's just a dark red of blood, so I'm leaving it dry and hopefully it will create a scab? Unsure.

His mood is much improved and he's taking treats again. Plus showing interest in whats going on.

Yes just leave that alone. You need Dr Munn. I don't like that lump whatsover, especially since you never saw any pus or smelled infection.

OK so its been cleaned out...

The anitbiotics and my constant cleaning with qutips and antibacterial soap was what did it. Plus when he fought to not get meds and puss squeezed out then.

Any idea why its bleeding? Has the lump deflated since the pus came out? It still looks lumpy and hard to me.

I cant tell if it was from the puss that it deflated or that the meds were working. I'll find out on Tues.

Feel it right now...if it still feels hard and full, or if its completely deflated like a blister that has popped.
