I'm thinking of your sweetie today. Hope she came through with flying colours!!

Sven was amazing. I can never get over the adaptability and the strong survival spirit of rats.

I shouldn't speak for littledevils...but I know she's a nervous wreck with worry about Mica today. So hopefully she won't mind me posting a little blurb.

I believe Mica is in surgery right now. So hopefully there will be an update soon.

It really was great to read about Jeremy and Sven and how well they did after their surgeries. I bet Mica will be so happy (once she's had time to heal up) to be free of that infection and troublesome leg, that she too will be racing around the room sqeaking Yippeee! Boy, it sure sounds like they heal up fast too. So hopefully Mica can be home with her new "dad" and three sons, soon!

This thread has given me some real hope so thank you all.

I just got a call from the vets that an x-ray on one of our 20 month old bucks ("Wheeler") has revealed an osteosarcoma on his left hind leg. He's been pretty ropey over the past week or so after we discovered the lump on his hind leg and has been on Metacam for the pain and Baytril for an associated haematoma but is still fighting.

I think I'll be pushing for trying an amputation after reading this. Will keep you posted.

Chelle has Clodhopper, who had to get a hind leg amputated at a young age. (See story here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16282) I'm sure she'll add to this, but from talking to her I think his biggest obstacle is grooming his left side/ear (his left hind leg was amputated) so he gets some help from his human parents with that.

osteosarcoma
That's exactly what my mom's rat had and my own Rylee had. It's the type that will keep coming back over and over again so best to nip it in the bud and amputate. He'll be just fine. Good luck!
