I just got my boys back today after not seeing them in such a long time so of course I checked on all of them to make sure they were ok and I gave them kisses to let them know how much I missed them and of course I found a mass.

I've already lost a baby to cancer and it scares me such much that this could be cancerous to.

I've been feeling on it and its very hard and round. I'm not sure how deep it is because my boy squirms to much. It is located near his thigh.

Update: Just got home from the vet, the lady told me it was more then likely a tumor so I had a FNA done. They came back with a syringe full of pus. They looked at it under the microscope and apparently its contagious. I will be giving him meds for 10 days every 12 hours. Its this pink stuff that smells like bubble soap.

All in all I had to pay 255.50....a lot more then I expected, meds alone were 30! I have to go back in thursday to because according to the vet/owner of the place said he may need it surgically removed. I wasn't even expecting the owner. I thought they had only one person that looked at rats and was expecting her...i'm asking for the other person next time because I cannot stand the owner of that place she was very rude to me the first time I was ever there to have my dog checked on and humiliated my mom. Luckly I don't think she recognized my name or she might have been rude to me this time also

How large is it? Does it move, or feel attached to something?
Here is an unedited picture. I'm sorry about the quality.

I circled the mass in this one just incase some people can't see it

As far as I can tell its not attached to anything and I can't tell much since he squirms so much i'm going to try again when he's relaxed some more since he did just have a 15 minute drive in the back of car in a nasty rancid tank.

Even better than warm compresses would be to submerge his butt in warm water...fingers crossed for an abscess. If you have a vet you trust then I would recommend going to have a FNA (fine needle aspiration) done to be sure and also to discuss getting abs.

Alright when I call to make the appointment i'll make sure to ask about that to make sure they do it and i'll try both the warm rag and submerge butt

I just woke up to the most horrible screams and bangs I've ever heard before. I've had some scuffles here and there before but this was a full blown fight and i'm amazed there's not blood. What was different this time was which rat started everything.
My little Sly is a huge puffball right now, I honestly confused him with my fighter starter Tux when it started. Can't even touch him without him having fear in his eyes, if I go for the butt he jumps away and if I try the front he turns his body in a very awkward way and his breathing gets so fast.

Sly has never started a fight ever, not over food, water, space or anything else. There's only one new thing I only know about and that's the spot and if its causing the pain then that's all that needs to go but I can't be sure just yet. First thing in the morning i'm calling the vet and hopefully he won't end up biting.

Looking at him in the cage right now at 2 am and hes still puffed up real bad bruxing his teeth, looks so tired.

Oh hon, this is a very terrifying time for you right now... I sure hope it's an easy fix lump that your boy has. Maybe Tux is taking advantage of him knowing he's a little under the weather. Hopefully it'll be just an absess drain and some antibiotics and your Sly will put Tux in his place, hopefully that place will be a snugglehammock.

Amazingly Sly had Tux on his back when I got up, never seen that rat so scared and he's usually the bully. Everyone is avoiding him, slowly poking there heads out of the castle and if the cost is clear they slowly walk over to the food bowl pick something up get a quick drink of water and slowly walk back, they only run if they spot Sly.

One of my boys is actually frozen right now because he woke Sly up who is now slowly watching and sniffing him. So far he's not attacking but hes still puffed up

Well I spoke to soon, there is blood. Thank god its nothing serious, three of my boys have some cuts but they already stopped bleeding and aren't deep. The only one that worries me is my timid siamese dumbo, he got bit on the head but he's so scared of me I cant check it very well, it looks worse then it actually is because of his white fur and I know its not bleeding but I still want to see if its an actual bite or a scratch.

I know have my boy locked up in a fish tank, he's got a small thing of water, a small plastic plate with some food, no bedding and a hand towel because that's what I used to pick him up

when boys are in pain they can lash out. Well rats in general. I have had a few do that and it is nothing nice. I hope you find out what is going on, I know not knowing or being able to help is a pain.

All of my boys ages. Marks-over 2 years, Sly-about 8 months, Tux-about a year and 2 months, BB- About 6/7 months, Frosty- About a year and 1 month, Little Blue- about 5 months

They wen't to my ex's about a month or two ago and he's kept them in a 100 gallon critter tank, I've tried talking him into getting those little cage topper things to atleast put on it or get a real cage but he never did. I wasn't expecting to be getting them so I don't have an emergency cage right now.

I am going to clean up my rabbit cage and put sly in there so he's not isolated in the small fish tank but I can't do anything about the others right now

Were these boys all living together?
Yes there whole lives.

How small is the cage they are in now?

Sly is the one who is 8 months? He's just coming into his hormonal phase so he may be setting the others off.
I haven't been able to move them into a proper cage yet so there still in the 100 gallon tank.

And yes Sly is about 8 months old. It just worries me that he got so aggressive so suddenly after this spot developed. According to my ex he was just fine two days ago

I just realized all my boys that were with him may possibly have this. I can't afford to have 5 more boys tested and put on medication.
