Abscess again

Ok that spelling looks wrong but spell check said it was right.

Anyways, about a month or 2 ago Victor went to the vet because of a lump on his throat. The vet took some of the liquid out of it and said it was just an abscess and gave me Baytril. I went away very quickly. Now, he has two lumps where the one was. Should aytril just clear this up? Or is there anything else I should do?

He is still on Baytril while the other two lumps showed up? That's odd... but it's possible. Any chance you could ask for Bactrim/Septra/Novotrimel? It works great on most dermal issues. Also, getting a Convenia shot might be worth a try. It's like $2 a shot.

He was actually done with the Baytril and then the lumps showed up, so I put him on Baytril again.

That's good... can you do warm compressed on the lumps. Also, can you see any scabs on the lumps?

A small scab has grown on one of them which I hadn't noticed before.

It must be abscesses then... do warm compresses and hopefully it will pop.

Our boy Yngve has had two now. I've used a warm tea bag as a compress, seems to work quite well, just make sure it's not too hot. I press it against the inside of my wrist to check the temperature before applying it. I was actually relieved it was an abscess and not a tumour. Good luck with the compressing. It's quite gross when they pop. :sick2:
