Stella had a stroke and has to be hand fed.poor sweetheart struggles so hard to groom and to move around, but her life quality has deteriorated markedly and she will be pts tomorrow. :(

So it is great to be able to spoil her with treats and soft blankets and lots of cuddles.

Oh Godmother, I am so very saddened to hear that. It's such a sudden & heartbreaking thing, and I'm sorry you have to come to that decision. I know that Stella had a wonderful life with you, and a companion who cares enough about her to let her move on if needed. That's what we all hope for, although we certainly wish there was simply more time.

@ Crumbilina: Fantastic! Let me know how the sizing on the shelves works, as the flannel/terry/fleece had a totally different stretch than my normal liners. I'm also thinking perhaps I should be aiming for 8" wide instead of 8.5", as another customer requested 8" wide & looking back at your original tester photos it looked like they might be better half an inch less wide. Curious to know what you think, but if yours run too wide this time let me know & I'll shoot you two more. Mine always seem to go just a smidge over what I'm aiming for anyway.

Lots of progress this week & still on track to squeeze in some Halloween premades! It's been a busy week & I thank everyone for waiting patiently on email responses. We've been working hard on a few side projects that should really streamline things from here on out. I finally completed my mondo cutting mat setup so I can quickly and accurately cut those gigantic c&c liners...

(3 cutting mats side by side - a total of 37"x75" of cutting space  )

& we just about finished the custom cabinet renovation for the Elna Supermatic free-arm machine. (no more table top sewing, which I suck at). It had some major water damage to the top that was not going to sand out, but luckily it works really well for the distressed look that I love with my furniture...

(The top, with custom cutout. After sanding & quite a few coats of stain)

ah, it's gorgeous! the girls are gonna love it! I can't wait to see their little faces poking out the sides :D

Im so jealous of your sewing machine and cutting space!

The liners went in today! The shelf liners were a a bit wide, they went over about half an inch... I really have to wonder if these cages are all different sizes? Seems like there are numerous versions out there... ah well, they still look good.

I didn't get perfect shots as there was one rattum that wouldn't get out of my way (she has discovered that I can reach that itchy spot on her back and any time hands come near she will try and place herself under them for scratches lol)

Either way, I love these liners! The duckies are adorable!

You can see in this picture that the shelf liner is a bit over...

Tellie's hammock hasnt gone in yet. I'll post pics when it goes in :)

@ Petunia: I'm so glad you like it! Definitely a super bright, fun hammock.

@ Crumbilina: Those were actually cut/sewn with the exact same measurements as the last set I sent you, and with the exact same seam allowance & stitch length. I had noticed they went a smidge bigger as well, and I'm wondering if perhaps it has to do with the stretch of either the terrycloth or flannel (or the combo) - or perhaps fleece by itself just bounces back a bit more? I'm wondering if perhaps a hot wash/dry might bring them in just the right amount?

I'm sorry I couldn't quite nail them for you. That's honestly one of the reasons I stick mainly to offering only fleece for liners (instead of cotton/flannel), as I think I'd almost have to get into a whole other set of templates just for each fabric combo at that point to try and get the right fit for each, and that's really more than I want to get into.

Was it mainly the shelves that had the issue? I thought I noticed the problem more with the smaller shelves. I'm also going to try and see if I can tune in just one machine with the lightest foot pressure possible to do the job, since I think my standard setup has too much foot pressure for liners and is dragging the edges out a bit wider than the rest. If I can tune in just one machine for liners only, perhaps we can nix this issue in the bum. Do you notice that the edges of the liners (corner to corner) are more of the issue rather than the middle (side to side) *if that makes sense*?

You know I'll second, Petunia! I hadn't even gotten around to admiring to ratties in the photos yet, but you're right... Dizzy's definitely got a look and gorgeous coloring to her.

Teddy, my bestest boy Teddy, who used to be the bounciest happiest guy, he has lost the use of his back legs, and just drags himself around. This happened fairly suddenly and nothing has helped him much- he's only 18 mos old!! I guess it must be HED but he's so young, and it came on so fast! :(

anyway, he's not been able to get into any hammocks except those that I put on the cage floor- til your hammock arrived today, that is.
I put it in the cage and just turned my back for a minute to get something, and when I turned back, this is where Teddy was (I had to run and get the camera so by then Lovey was already up there too) :

Lovey next to him, grooming him all over.

Later he managed to get out (I missed that too, so I don't know how he is doing this!)
and then he slept very comfortably on the bottom bunk of the hammock for awhile (I have a short video of this)

Later still, he was able to get back on the top of this hammock. I wish I would catch him doing it- He has to be using those side openings like a ladder or something??
he won't even drag himself up a ramp, but he got into your hammock!

this is the happiest I've seen my boy in WEEKS!
thank you sooo much!!

he knows excellence when he sees it, and apparently will settle for nothing less!
;D

@ Petunia: Oh my goodness, that is some of the best news ever!!! I too wonder how he's doing it, but I'm betting if you can sit & quietly watch him for a bit, perhaps he'll let you in on his secret. & who would have figured he'd manage to figure out how to get on top of *that* hammock, of all hammocks.

& also a funny tidbit, that photo with Owen, Teddy & Lovey... if I didn't know better, I'd swear that was my Bug, Bosco & Gizmo... if, that is, Bug wasn't nearly as fat as he is now. :giggle:

Mine too Petunia! I really hate closing up shop, but it's the only way to try and get them in. If I haul butt I can get some done, but only if I don't have to worry about finalizing orders and checking fabric availability as well. I'm always amazed at how long that part of it takes sometimes.
