Hi - Thought since I'm in Windsor, and there aren't any postings yet, I'd add one.

Dr. Sweetman has been treating my boyfriend's girls for the past year or so, and has been willing to learn and ask questions to gain experience with rats. Still not too comfortable with sending them there for surgery (quite expensive as well), but for everyday myco concerns, etc. he is wonderful. If he doesn't know the answer, he'll do his best to research and ask other vets to find out.

Other Resources:

Dr. Fuerth - Brack Animal Hospital - 519-966-1020 - Comfortable with small animals, but the clinic itself seems very rushed. I had a few prescriptions that ran out way too early. Dr. Fuerth is helpful, but his familiarity with and willingness (= time?) to look into alternative treatments is limited. EDIT: I think I've actually had a prescription or two that were improperly mixed (doxy dosages) so double check the information given. Again, caring vets but a busy, busy environment.

Emergency/After Hours: Walker Road Animal Hospital - 972-9000 - They will treat exotics. I had to have one boy pts there, and they were very considerate of my sobbing all over the place and, because it was after hours I suppose, I got to stay in the back with him while he was gassed down prior to euth., which was actually comforting since he was struggling to breathe so badly.

EDIT #2: Dr. Horsman has switched to the Walker Rd. Animal Hospital, and I'm likely to follow her there. I've had further issues at Brack's. Too many different people handling prescriptions and too many errors. They mixed up a doxy order - didn't get in the compounding solution - had one of my rats been really ill this week I would have been in trouble. As it is, we're stuck with just Baytril until the doxy arrives sometime next week (It was ordered last MONDAY, I had to call THEM on Friday to see what was going on, and it SHOULD have already been there as the Vet had prescribed a month long round of meds -we were two weeks in and calling to pick up the second 2 week batch of Doxy...)

Hope this info. is helpful to others in the area.
