On a side note, her cagemates ate half her face and one of her eyes. Is that normal? =/

Sadly that is called a ratty burial or cleaning up. The rats instincts kick in to get rid of the body, since it could attract predators to the colony and endanger them. I am sorry you had to see that.

A necropsy needs to be done ASAP. Is your vet capable? Where are you located?

I'm located in Oshawa. I will call my vet though and see if he does them.

most vets will do a gross necro and then if you want tissues sent away for a histology or organs sent for a pathology that is on top of it all.

her body would need to be refrigerated.

I am very sorry for your loss :(

Brought her in and had it done by my vet (free of charge). One of her lungs was completely filled. :( I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for her. And I still can't believe how she managed to hide it so well. As active as she's always been only hours before her death.

Bonnie has been hiding all day, and the other three girls seem terrified of me :(
