My old girl Clair hasn't had much of an appetite since she lost her long time buddy and BFF Tilly on Monday (I'd planned to let Clair go the same day but couldn't do it-
then I was going to do that today and still couldn't do it...)
anyway, she seems comfortable when she is with me- laying on my lap or up against me in bed, etc
but she's not been eating a whole lot

Tonight I mixed her baby cereal with a drop of Wild Alaskan salmon oil I just got for my cats, and she couldn't get over to her bowl fast enough!!

so if you've got a rat who's not eating you might want to try something fishy...?
Usually my girls go for the sweet stuff but she's been refusing Ensure and I ran out of soy milk.

(Clair is 25 mos old and has three large tumors)

Aww, I'm glad she's still with you. I've had the same experience with fish oil (and avocados), you just have to make sure you move your fingers out of the way quickly enough.

Yeah, I've found that many of my rats have loooved tuna. I wonder what it is they like about fish so much...the smell maybe?
