Ang was checking over the rats and noticed that Leroy's teeth don't look like they're lining up and are starting to curl out. I think we're going to have to trim them but we wanted to see what you guys thought.

The fact that they are slanted, I'm pretty sure they are not aligning right. They should be a straight cut. It's not that bad yet but I'd keep an eye on it or get it done now so he can get used to it

We trimmed Leroy's teeth the other day. He did really well and the burrito trick of course works wonders lol Kinda sucks we'll have to trim teeth ever so often but at least we caught it early enough that they weren't that bad. I was reading that when rat teeth over grow it's because of a medical problem. Maybe that's why his teeth are white too?
I remember Franka's teeth were white and we had to trim her teeth.

My big Jasper had to have his teeth trimmed a lot and ya, his were white too. He did have respiratory issues too. So it might all be related.

At least now, you'll become a pro. :)

I doubt he's ever been on meds before but I dunno. We adopted him from the spca and he was already older. I noticed he felt more slim lately. Not sure if that is from all his wheel running or if his teeth were hurting him so he wasn't eating as much.

lol ya being a pro at cutting teeth. I'll have to put that on my resume lol

I was checking Leroy's teeth today and his top ones look good. We trimmed them Nov 21 and haven't had to trim them since. However his bottom teeth are a new concern. It looks like his bottom teeth go behind his front teeth and come no wear close to aligning.

I looked at Garik and Cedric's teeth to see what they should look like and their bottom teeth align with their front.

Can you trim bottom teeth? When Franka had to have her teeth trimmed it was only the top that needed done.

I can tell he hasn't been feeling well. I just have that feeling and I think it's because of his teeth.

Wondering if we should try and trim his bottom's or not?

The bottom teeth can get quite long. Are you sure they don't align? If not, then yes, you can definitely trim the bottom teeth.
BTW, it's pretty good that it's been that long since your last trim. Usually rats need them every week to two weeks.

I'll see if I can get a picture tonight when Ang gets home. When Ang was holding him and I got a good look it looks like his bottoms go behind his front quite a ways. When I looked at Cedric and Garrak their bottoms look like they align great with their top.

I couldn't see how far Leroy's bottom teeth go up and they don't look like they were curving. Going to try and get a better look tonight.

Finally got some pictures of Leroy's teeth. We need a new camera something awful.

I find the first picture is how I see them all the time. The other ones almost look like his teeth align but I'm pretty sure they don't.
