does it look like Hope is still the alpha in these two videos? ( Edit, for some reason i could only get one video uploaded)

was there any point where I should have stepped in?
Hope is the black hooded girl with the big lump on her back, Owen is the big black boy:

Since adding the two boys to my established colony of 5 girls, only one rat has been bitten so far, and that was Evie- and as it turns out, from what I"ve seen, Evie was being way too aggressive. She just started going after Teddy, I don't know why, and Teddy is not one to back off, at least not right away

I think those two are just avoiding each other most of the time now, I"ll post another video of the whole crew on the table playing,
maybe someone who "reads' rats and their body language can tell me if everyone is doing ok with everyone else, from what you see?

ok it's taking forever for the other video to upload so i'll start off with this one

Owen is such a smexxy-beast of a rat. :cheeky:

What's the lump on Hope? It looks like a giant scab. Or just her markings. :giggle:

Hope has a terrible attached tumour that is inoperable. She's still doing just great though, and Petunia is watching her carefully :)

HAHAHA, get 'em girly!!! This is soo typical, the girls will boss those boys around until they figure it out...looks nice and normal to me Althea :D

Oh! :emb: :laugh4:

LOL she was making sure he knew to stay away. I have noticed my boys are more willing to walk away from my girls than my boys. Mally can flip any boy in that cage and they let her. I know how rotten my boys are so it isnt because they are nice lol

Do you think it's because they don't see females as an authority danger in the wild? It would explain why the lazy fluffs just roll their eyes and walk away. :lol2:

ok i got the other video uploaded

this is from today, i was cleaning the cage and they were all the table with a big pan of peas to fish from (the boys don't appear to know how to fish for peas, but my girls sure do lol)

I don't know if the original audio track will be on this or if the music will be, either way, just mute it ok?
the music is annoying < i only put it on there because i don't know how to get the original audio track off any other way
and my voice on the original is annoying as well LOL i'm talking too softly for you to really hear what i'm saying so it's just as well you mute that out

this is long but you can see pretty much all 7 rats in it and if there are any who are having issues with each other maybe you can see it in the video?

Paige is the fat PEW
the little PEW is Evie
Hope is the black hooded girl (small) with the large tumor on her back and one under her arm
Brenna is the agouti berk
Smidgen is the agouti hooded
Owen is the black berk big boy
Teddy is the black hooded big boy

do you think they are all getting along ok?

Mally was my meanie. Any time templeton would mount a girl, she would run and attack. It took a couple of weeks for them to calm down. Now it is a lot of grooming and cuddling. You can hear them squeaking a bit over the grooming but they all seem to take turns picking on each other but not fights. I would only worry if fights start, boys and girls are different together it is odd and beyond cute. I looked at my group constantly when they first lived together I couldnt get over the boys and girls loving up on each other.

yeh its so different than just the girls together

they all seem energized by being in a mixed gender group, there's always a lot more going on

I am not getting a whole lot of work done these days
but hey, the housework can wait,
this is too much fun to miss!
