Vet in St Johns NL?

I am seriously looking for a vet who will treat rats in the St John's Newfoundland area.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated! :heart:

Hi, I did a quick google search...
This vet was recommended on a rabbit site... if a vet treats rabbits, chances are they also treat rats.

I also found this lady: Rachael Bowdridge, she is an Executive Member of Beagle Paws, and a fundraiser volunteer with the SPCA in St. John's. She has had several pets including rats, I bet she could help you find a good vet.

There is a vet very very close to freshwater apartments. I'd give them a shout if you live nearby. Really living in St.John's you have quite a few options so I'd call everywhere and see if they have any experience with rats.

UGH.
I took Marbles to the St John's Animal Hospital about her sneezing, and the vet there told me to completely isolate her from the other rats and me (unless i had to go cage-cleaning) for two weeks because she was "stress-sneezing". (They wouldn't even let me in the room while they examined her)
This struck me as odd because she LOVES Splinter to death, and is always the first one to come see me when i open the cage. I didn't isolate her, as i didn't think she would enjoy it very much, nor would she benefit from it.

I took her to a different vet (Sunrise Animal Hospital in Mount Pearl) and they diagnosed her with an advanced respaitory infection. :gaah: She is on two medications right now, one is Baytril, the other is PediaPred.

I don't think the people at St John's Animal Hospital have a single clue.
$53 for nothing. :wallbang:

At least she has medication now, and will hopefully get better!

I asked the vet at Sunrise about St John's Animal Hospital

He is the BEST vet ever! ..he has help me so much with all my ratties, from respiratory infections, anemia, sprained knees, lice, rat bits and neutering ..he is truley amazing.

Thanks so much Ratty Momma. I go out to Sunrise Animal Hospital and used to be seen my Dr Singh, but he left for some reason.

There is a woman out there who I took my rats to once and I wasn't too pleased with her. I don't know why, she just didn't seem to know what she was talking about.

I never liked Dr. Singh ..went to him once, and he used to call my girl al mouse ...
Dr. Dee (thats what they call him) owns the practice and he knows everything about rats, everyone else just looks in a book. But if Dr. Dee in not avaialble, Dr Collins will see them if REALLY NEEDED cause shes allergic, but she won't lave your stranded.

She is kind of short, curlyish hair, some sort of heavy accent. Is that the Dr Collins your talking about?

 

Nope, blonde hair, I think the girl your talking about is new!

 

Dr. Collins has blonde straight hair. The girl you seen, is she tiny? if so then she's new (a few months), Dr. Dee trained her. The only other femal doctor down there is allergic to rats and refuses to see them.

Yes she's kinda tiny, with a very thick accent.

 

That would be her, not sure of her name, but Dr. Dee seen Teddy for an ear infection one day and she was there with him. How did you find her?

She was very good with them.

I had three of my rats see her thus far and she's done a wonderful job and is very patient.

 

That's good then, at least I know fi Dr. Dee is not in and I need to see someone I can see her.

 

Tarah: Just wondering, have you tried Dr. Dee yet?
