Felix has been having respiratory issues, so he's on meds. But last night and today, I've noticed that his butt is just soaked with urine (or least I think it was urine). I tried inspecting his willy, but he was a bit er, slippery and was having none of it. Is that indicative of another problem?

On top of that, I think he's starting to get bumblefoot. Grr.

How old is he? Sounds like he has either lost mobility or the lung power to groom. Poor sweetie. You may have to start wiping him with a wet cloth or (if he isn't scared) rinsing his nether regions under the tap.

I noticed this before with one of my girls Ellie Mae. I'm not sure what caused it, but it continued for a couple of weeks and then seemed to resolve. Perhaps a UTI? The first time, I put her on Baytril, the second time she already was on Baytril. Go figure.......

Any blood or discoloration? Is he not moving as much? Perhaps he's just, as I call it, marinating in it? One of my old fatties used to marinate in his urine. His berky belly was always gross yellow. Dirty boys.

Its really out of the ordinary for Felix - he is a fastidiously clean rat.

He was pulled from that 1000+ rat hoarding case, and that was almost two years ago. Guess that would probably make him a senior rattie?

Perhaps. Keep an eye out for discoloration or lumpies in his belly area. That's all I can think of, I'm sure there's more to look out for, but that's where I'd start.
