Well i was cleaning my rat cage yesterday and i picked my one older male up with no problem but the other i just got so hes still kinda skittish had squeeked, so nothing new. Put them in the tank while i cleaned their cage and i noticed a lil blood (a very lil bit) on their blanky.
Finished cleaning and THEN i noticed what seemed to be a cut or a scrape on the babies one ball (dont know how to word it). So im kinda freaking out right now. Hes in no pain acting normal and active its also not bleeding but theres a bit of dry blood around it.

Dont mind the tank hes in i had to put him in there to take pics from underneath cause its still kinda hard to pick him up he freaks out (dont worry hes done that since i got him still scared of people).

Im also a member of another forum and someone had told me to watre down peroxide and put a lil on it and then some neosporin (she has a many rats). i did that and its looking a lil better just wondering what it is?

This is him....dont worry thats not blood its something my son wiped on the chair

Its nto as deep as it looks
its shallow like a scrape and it is a lil bit wide
it started to close and scab a lil bit
since i cleaned it out yesterday have to
check again today. I just have no idea
what it is..someone said an old abcess thats healing

Don't use peroxide next time, it can dry out the skin. And I don't recommend the neosporin either, you don't want it healing from the outside in. You need the inside to start healing first or it will abscess.
Is the first pic before the neosporin or after? It's quite a gash but it should heal well. I don't think he needs a vet trip, not yet, maybe if it gets infected but if you keep it clean by flushing it with water it should be ok.
Do you know which buddy might have done that to him? Does he look like he's scared of any other rat in the cage? A lot of rats will hold onto the testicles to smell the area, if he decided to dash in the middle of that, it would have made a gash like that. So it can be from an aggressive encounter or an innocent one.

I only have him and my other male in one cage.
they usually get along fine with a lil fight here and there.
The pics were before i cleaned it out.
so i should just clean with water?

He is doing soo good and healing up just fine :)
I have clipped moes nails again to try and
prevent any future scratches down there.
 thank you everyone
