I am demonstrating behaviorism for a science project, and I am tryin to train my rats do do a few things on command. But I cant find a consistent motivator, I've tried all the boys favorites, cheerios (even sugary ones!) rice crispies, and cheesy bunnies. My boys are interested in one or two and then move on... I am also breaking the treats into small pieces. Any suggestions... I am going to try peas next, but y boys don't normally go nuts for them.
Does anyone have rat training tips, I am continuing with clicker traing. I taught my boys all to come when called and their names that way.

I think very small treats work best...and doing the training when they are hungry LOL

do they like sunflower seeds?
or puffed wheat? my guys like the puffed wheat with no added sugar or salt

I've been afraid to try cheese... I know that many rats are lactose intolerant, and I my self can't eat dairy... Cheese is so painful for me, I dont' want to risk it for my boys. :(
I may be way off in my thinking, but from what I've read...

I am going to pick up some shell-less sunflower seeds for sure. Those seem good and tiny, well see how they like 'em. Thanks!
