I tried searching but there were just too many responses under baytril.

Little Otis was just prescribed Baytril today. I was told .37 twice a day, doesn't this seem like a bit much? To add to this, he was being quite stubborn on his evening dose tonight and I ended up shooting a lot onto the floor. Not really thinking, and with little Otis panicking after having been poked and prodded all day, I quickly added some more to his dropper without knowing how much I spilled on the floor. He ended up taking it all down but now I am really worried that he may have had too much. I guess I wasn't really thinking since he was so agitated and I just wanted to get it done and stop stressing him out after a long day. Does anyone know how much is too much Baytril?

The cc you are giving could be any dose, you really need to know the ml/mg the vet mixed it at and the weight of your rat to determine if the dose was appropriate or not. Baytril is pretty safe, I wouldn't worry about messing up a dose one time.

I don't know his weight or how it was mixed. After reading these and some other posts and talking to my wife I feel a little better. I probably added about .15ML to the dropper after I spilled it so even if I only dropped .05ML he still wouldn't have more than 115% of his dose. I guess I just panicked a little because .37 seemed like such an exact dose and he's had a rough week. I'm keeping a close eye on him. The Baytril is clear but it does smell like strawberry. Once it was actually in his mouth he didn't seem to mind it but getting him to let me put the dropper in there was a bit of a challenge. He's quite stubborn.

Thanks for your quick responses, I'll be sure to take better care with his remaining doses.

.37 cc's is a high dose probably because of the concentration of the actual baytril. I use 50 mg/ml baytril and use much smaller doses. Your vet may have given you 10 mg/ml baytril and your boy weighs 370 grams.
