Devil boy is at it again! Poor Popper - just had to rescue him - although Snickers was involved too. Had to intervene with all the screaming that was going on. Axe he leaves along, but Popper he won't leave his nose out of his private area.... It's starting to look a bit red, but that could be normal since he just had the neuter I suppose. He is now curled up in my lap.

I tried to put him back in the cage and once again he was pounced on by Throttle, Peanut, and Oliver. Throttle & Peanut went after his neuter site and Oliver was at this "winky" poor boy was just trying to get a drink of water. He then pancaked himself and when I went to pick him up he squeaked - so I moved him to the single cage for the night and gave him another dose of metacam. When I took him out the first time I think he was in pain since he was kind of stretching and sucking his sides in, but was obviously in no respiratory distress. He feels rather hot to me too - temp is set at 70F (in the house)

they probably missed him and he probably smells different. If they were not biting him then they were not meaning any harm. when a rat is gone they sniff them to see where they have been. they will also sniff the mouth to see what they have been eating. It is normal for them to smother the rat when they come back. He may have some pain some boys are wussies when it come to surgeries and will act like they just had a huge ordeal with a small poke. dont worry so much about them, they will sniff and see what it is but i have yet to have one hurt a boy after surgery, your worrying to much can very well make matter worse because the longer he is out the higher risk of them rejecting him back in.

Owwies after a neuter aren't good, get those under control. Maybe keep him out of the group til he feels better...are the other boys acting hormonal or just too curious?

You want to look for swelling or for smell. So sniff it :) make sure al takes a picture when you do it LOL You could always ask for abs to make sure no infection is brewing did they use stitches on him externally? or glue? most boys hate stitches so they will mess with it. i had two boys who were done the same day and the brats took their glue out and had to be knocked out again and reglued. the glue could be pulling, i have seen that in a hard to shut area that tends to make them uncomfy. I have had some rat not take metacam well and they ended up allergic to it. Usually after 3 days, they should be fine. I never give metacam after the second day rarely but I have had some boys who have been drama queens with it. Boys can toss a rat out pretty fast so just watch for them being buggers to him over that. If in doubt, call your vet and have them recheck him. the internal stitches can annoy boys too and cause hard round abscesses in the boys some pop up fast others take a while.

you can take a picture and we can look at it. I am sure if something is astray someone will see it.

He's been back in the cage w/the others since yesterday - so he's been back for over 24 hours and they still won't leave him alone. No one is bothering Axe. Popper hasn't looked like he was handling it as well as the other two (Throttle/Axe) since I picked him up. Stitches are internal. I will sniff, but unfortunately for you Al is at work!! Nope, don't smell anything and he is a lot cooler. I put him back with the boys and they are all fluff balls walking on their tip toes - even Axe is being sniffed now. They are all scratching again so we will re dose them tomorrow with the revolution... He was not a happy photo subject.....

And I need to add Throttle is like the gang leader, they all look to him and line up behind him ... if you look at him head on he even stands like a bull dog....
