As many of you know I have Lily's boys, Poppet, Tofu, Wally and Milky.
Milky is slowing down at 39 months.
The other 3 boys have started picking on him. :(
Pinning him down and chasing him around.
Milky is fast losing the use of his back end and his balance is iffy.
I separated him from the others but he seems so lonely all by himself.
What should I do?
Would it be too much for Milky if I pair him with Butternubbies?
Or should I put him back with his cage mates?
I want Milky's last days to be free of stress and turmoil. :cuddle:

I have this same issue with my oldest girl. I'm curious to know any responses.

As of right now, I have not separated them but the screams really make me want to.

Is he losing any fur?

Does he still sleep with the others?

No fur loss but he never sleeps with them.
Milky hides away under a pile of blankets.
They are so much bigger than him and with all 3 pinning him down I'm afraid he's gonna get hurt.

Aww, poor guy, that doesn't sound good. At least my girlie still sleeps with her buddies. I dunno what I would do... hopefully someone will answer.

Do you have another group that he might get along with? If so, its worth a try right?

Give him kisses from me and my crew.

Olive would chew him up and spit him out.
Mr R Butternubbs might be a choice tho.
I will see how that goes.
Milky loves kisses.
Milky. :thud:

Awww, he's adorable!

So you only have the 2 groups? The one that he is currently in and the one that contains Miss Olive?

:giggle: Her reputation is known

:laugh4: Olive's attitude is bigger than life. :laugh4:
Just the two groups and Dexter, who is WAY worse than Olive. :gaah:

I hate when ratties get old. :(

This is a tough one. What I usually do is pull out the old one, especially if they are being picked on and give them their own home. But they still get out time with their buddies and sometimes I'll put another buddy in with them for a short time so they can visit. But I've only had to do this a few times because most of my rats are sweet and don't pick on the old ones.

Would it be possible to remove Milky and a buddy or 2 so they can live peacefully on their own?

Milky is in with a bunch of young boys who are just starting to feel their oats, and aren't exactly respectful of a tiny old man (whom I thought was a smallish girl).

I would say try Randy B., he seems like a gentle little fellow.

It looks like Milky is nearing the end of his long life. :(
He is by himself as his cage mates were tormenting him. :gaah:
Milky has lost almost all the use of his hind end and has started displaying signs of P.T.
That or a stroke as he is at times going in circles.
He acts lost and confused.
Poor boy can only eat baby cereal.
He spends hours with me getting much deserved love tho & Milky kisses are still frequent. :thud:
 Milky & me.

 Stacey & Milky

Milky was put to sleep today. :sad3:
A week & a half ago I noticed Milky had a bit of trouble using his hind legs.
I thought that he would have had more time but it was not to be.
Mr. Milky started showing the classic signs of P.T.
One day he could move and eat and two days later he needed to be hand fed and have constant care.
The seizures started 3 days ago and became stronger and longer with each one.
Milky would be all boggly, bruxy and licky afterwards loving all the attention and cuddles.
Today he had constant seizures and I knew I had to let him go.
Dr. Munn let me hold Milky during his final minutes so he wouldn't go alone.
Play hard with your brothers Noodle and Strider little licky man.
I will never forget your sweet loving nature.
For a little rattie you had a big spirit and an even bigger heart.
R.I.P.

Mr. Milky giving Lily kisses.
Shopping with Lily and trying out a new chair.

That sweet little face I will miss greeting me in the morning. :cuddle:
