I bought the liquid form today, to give to willy because he has been hiccuping constantly and has a stuffy nose but he is perfect in every other way. I know they are all pretty much the same thing but this one says "made from the died root of echinacea angustifolia 1:1 extract in alcohol 45%"

---------------UPDATE-------------------

Ok so I bought the Holista alcohol free stuff, is it one drop a day or 2 or how does it work lol

If you haven't opened it yet, return it to the store and get the alcohol free one.
I use Holista Alcohol free Echinacea with natural wild cherry flavour.
It's 1000mg from echinacea flowers and roots.

I just bought it today and have not opened it. I saw that holista cherry flavoured one at walmart to day, I'll get that one tomorrow. Thanks! :D

Thats exactly why I posted lol I read it when I got home.. it all sounded fine and then it said contained alcohol and that did worry me.. I returned it and went back to walmart and found the same stuff that jorat has  It Holista and says alcohol free with cherry flavour.

How often should you give it to them a day? 1-2 drops a day?

Hmm I thought I read somewhere that 1 week on and 2 weeks off works the best...I will look around and see if i can find where I read that.

edit:

Echinacea can boost the immune system and be helpful as a preventative measure. The Rat & Mouse Gazette suggests a schedule of one week on and two or three off. Dose is one or two drops twice daily of the children’s version which is fruit flavoured and alcohol free.

just if anyone's interested :D

I used to do one week on, two weeks off. But I found 2 weeks off was too much for my guys. So my vet recommened 1 week on, one week off.

Yup, I asked him about that & he said that such a little amount (one drop (about the size of half or less a dime) would not lose effectivness on rat's the size of mine. I forgot to mention, only my boys get it one week on, one off. The girls do one week one, two off.

Rattie metabolism is so fast it's hard to gauge what works best for the rats so it's all trial and error really.
Right now, I'm doing one drop a day for a week.
