So Fabian is part of my rexzilla crew. They came to me very young last summer, shortly after 4 months old. Hormones hit. Fred, Sebastian, Angelo, cupid and Demetrius are the worse. Fred and Sebastian were neuter in December. Sadly Fred didnt make it. Sebastian healed up but moved into another group. Oddly enough the rexzillas are ok as long as i manage their area. I limit the other rats smell on their part of the floor. I removed the other boys that lived with them and we lived quietly for a long time.

This is how bad hormones can attack a boy. Tosses them into a frenzy of rubbing or possible bites.

Sadly in March I grabbed him at the wrong time after a fight and he bit down while shaking his head. The worse pain I have felt hit my whole hand.

He hit a nerve, 3 months later I still have problem with my finger. It hurts when I use it and some days it just aches.

Since I was unsure of my last tetanus shot, i had another. Made me sick with the chills, my arm was raised with a red rash. Not a happy day.

I was terrified to have him neutered. So young, we lost fred after one. I fought with emotions. Surgeries are very scary. Elective or not, they can be necessary with males. There comes a point that a neuter is a requirement to help some males achieve the normal life that others have. Jorats had to remind me of that to push me over.

It has been a few months since he was neutered. He is healed and totally happy. His out time is fun time now. He no longer looks for places to rub. Which puts him in a major danger zone for other rats or people. You touch a rubbing boy and they can think it is another male and go for the bite. He zips around now. He popcorns. I can reach in pick him up and kiss his nose and not think twice about him biting me. He now squeaks when the other boys groom him, he doesn't lash out and attack them. It is an amazing thing to see.Nowadays if I say his name he stands up trying to get to me. I pick him up and he is relaxed. Now to move on to the rest of the mean boys.

Without his neuter, none of this would be.

It makes my heart smile to know that he is now a happy boy. A sweet one at that.

Oh wow. I love the before and after. That's awesome. Peggy, can I steal your videos and your story for the Rat Room. People need to see how great neuters can be.
