Ignore my teary voice.. I am so torn. He is shiny, he eats, he drinks, he grooms himself and others but he is so sick.

I can hear his breaths so his lungs dont appear full. It seems as if his heart is being like a bongo drum? but it is hard to tell.

Here he is eating sweet potatoes.

He is very sick I can say that for sure. I dont believe it is anything sickly related since he only sneezes on occasion and i don't hear the typical noise would hear with pneumonia.

Saying I am heart broken is an understatement. I see him and I dont feel like he is dying, I feel like he will if i don't find the right answer. Friday will or Saturday will be a week on the heart meds. His feet stay warm and i cannot say about discoloration. I am not sure what to look for.

Friday we go to the vet. I need to figure out what to do or try.
He is on enalipril and vetmedin, both heart meds. and i put him on antibiotics just to be sure.

If I have done all that i can, I need to help him across the bridge and I cannot feel that is the right answer yet.

So any ideas or information will be grand to help me decide what I need to do.

He is about 20 months old, but he has been aging fast, HED has already begun in his legs. Emtionally I am torn I need some outside opinions. This is my first boy that we brought home. I have been through so much for him and with him. This is destroying me to see him like this.

Did he give you imrpovements on the heart meds, as a diagnostic do you think that they were the way to go?

If so you need to put him on a betablocker like atenolol and possibly lasix as well.

I can switch from vet medin to atenol and see if they need lasi, but i cant say his lungs sound full....it could be but I will ask for both on friday if that is the next step i should try.

and also loki is breathing the same as the first video i posted but their feet are warmer now. Loki however is popcorning and coming out of the cage, seeking out treats, i just havent found the right problem solution for them

Edit: to make it more clear, first video of him not of templeton, he isnt breathing that hard. I dont have a bunch of sick rats either, i have my typical few that are problematic but nothing major. Just typical sniffles with the same ones.

I am not sure why the fluid builds up during heart failure.

But lasiz will give a fast reaction time

Furosemide is a powerful loop diuretic which inhibits the reabsorption of sodium and chloride, as well as potassium to some degree. In addition to diuretic activity it appears to have a direct effect on the blood flow through vasculature beds. It has also been shown to relieve pulmonary congestion, and to reduce filling pressures in the left ventricle in congestive heart failure.

It is rapidly absorbed and results may be seen in 20 minutes to an hour. The maximum effect of this drug occurs anywhere from 2-4 hours after ingestion, and its action lasts for up to 8 hours. Furosemide exhibits an antihypertensive effect.

Here is some reading for you all in one place

I have him in the cage. He is more stressed being out of it right now. He is having a very bad moment right now. :(

it seems to happen when it is almost time for his next dose. He doesnt look real good though. I gave him his meds an hour ago, he is sleeping now so I dont want to disturb him.

My poor boy. I would say it totally sucks but most understands where I am at right now. I think my boy had a stroke or something he is leaning to this left side, no balance at all. Been on abs, never has had an ear infection, but he is totally leaning like the world is spinning.

I am going to take him to the vet still, my visit maybe for a different reason for him though. Loki I will watch and see what else I can do, I cannot justify letting him go with his brother even though I almost feel like I should. Maybe I should so he dont end up like this too....I dont know that I can handle doing this all over next week.

He just took a bunch of ensure, my boy was thirsty. He would take much earlier but now I know why. It didnt dawn on me about drooling till Victoria asked me in chat if he was, and he was earlier. When dopey had his stroke he was drooling too. He is laying in the top part of the FN, I blocked it off from the rest of the group and just left loki up there with him. I took all the ramps and shelves off gave him an igloo with a blanket and lowered his water bottle.

He is trying to move but he cant very well. he is still breathing fast :( I am going to email the vet, and see what they say.

I woke up this morning and he was in very bad shape. I got my daughter and we headed to the vet. He passed before we could get there.

He was doing ok last night but this morning was not the case. I was going to help him across the bridge but he went ahead of me.

I am of course devastated that i lost my boy. Loki was so upset this morning, he was in the cage and not happy about it. I have him out now with some treats.

I am taking loki to the vet tomorrow, i want to see if i can get some dex for the future and To make sure loki will have at least a bit of a chance. I cannot bear to lose both of them so soon.
