I've got my two CNs in a bedroom that's rat proofed and that has the only AC in it,
it's a small AC but I used it in my extra large living room last year and it *can* keep the room to around 77 degrees, although it runs constantly when it's really hot out (not sure if that's bad for the AC- I know what it does to the electric bill LOL)
I thought this bedroom/rat room would stay cooler, since it's on the northeast corner of the house, and shaded by trees as well, but there's very poor air circulation and it gets very stuffy.
I have to run two fans even when the AC isn't needed, just to keep it from getting too hot and stinky in there.
Ok so, so far it sounds like a no-brainer, right? move the rats and the AC to the living room, right?
well, the living room is on the west side of the house with no shade. It gets very hot from early afternoon on, on the worst of the summer days
but, if the windows are open, it can get very cool on the remaining cool nights we'll probably have (before Aug, when temps dont usually cool off at night any more)
I like to open it up to cool off the house, but would it be too much of a temp drop for the rats?
Two rats have resp issues and two have tumors. I guess what I need to know, is,
First off, how bad would moving them from one room to another be, for their health? would that be too big an adjustment for the sick ones?
AND most importantly, I guess, what is the biggest temp fluctuation that I can have in a room that will not harm or stress out the sick rats?
I would want to sometimes be able to open up the windows (there are four in this room) and let the room get fresh night time air, but don't want to make the kiddos sick from it getting too cool
They would still use the bedroom for free range time, as it's the only rat proofed area in the house. THe living room can't be made rat proof.
