Teddy is one of mommas remaining babies out of 6. He is 26 months old.

Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed his back legs becoming weaker ..he walks very close to the ground, and waddles.
It is becoming more and more ..
He is pancaking a lot too.

No signs of pain.

No weight loss, no breathing issues, no lumps or bumps.

ETA: tonight he feels very warm ..his tail is warm and his paws a warm and sweaty ..but it's not warm here ..he keeps clearing the shavings in his cage and lying on the cold floor

In the videos he looks pretty good. I don't see any signs of HED yet. From what you describe it does seem like he's hot, trying to cool off. I don't know what it could be... Keep an eye on him, see if it passes. Rats have "off" days, I've noticed.

I'm just really confused ..he always walks low to the ground with his back legs..waddles ...pancakes a lot ..spends most of his time lying down ..unless I put him on the floor ..then he runs like last night .. but all started gradually

and the very warm tail and sweaty feet ..?

He sits and cleans fine and eats fine ..

lol guess your right ..I will take another video of him on the couch ..I guess his weight of 620 grams don't help lol

He really looks great. I would not be worried at all. I know what you mean now when you say he pancakes... we call that taking a rat nap. Older rats do that a lot. I have a picture of my Teddy taking a rat nap during intros. It's normal.

I have never seen HED before so I really don't know ..I don't know a lot of stuff haha ..getting their tho ..

Teddy is no longer warm like he was that night ..but still silly ..walking close to the ground, pancaking ALL thetime andalways sleeping on his back or side.

Another question:

Teddy is still walking low to the ground and pancaking lots ...but he needs balance while eating treats ..using one hand to balance, one to eat, then using two, then using one ..but his balance is fine, no head bumping of circling

..Im unsure if this is PT or just old?

When a rat advances with HED, they lose the ability to sit up on their bum. Instead they need to hold themselves up and try and hold their food at the same time. If I ever get around to it, I will make a video of my two most advanced cases. They have very little hind end movement at all, and drag themselves around by their front feet. So as long as he is eating fine and is happy, no worries!

He don't drag his legs, but he walks very close to the ground ..like a shuffle ..I am uploading 2 videos of him now eating and walking.

He is a saggy silly old man.

I just want to make sure i'm not overlooking PT or anything ..HED don't worry me.

He is very healthy ..no breathing issues, shiny coat and bright eyes as you can see in the video. Just becoming very saggy in his old age.

In the below videos he is resting his food on the ground while eating.

He seems OK. With a PT, they get uncoordinated pretty fast, and often seem confused and don't know what to do or how to eat.

yeah, I'v delt with PT before ...but I have caught it late ..so just being careful!
