A couple of days age, Sophie was wrestling with Alice and she got kicked in the face. The area around her right eye is now a bit swollen, and I suspect she might have gotten scratched there in the process. Otherwise, she's acting completely fine.

Should I leave her eye alone, or is there something I should do to ward off possible infection?

Whenever I'm dealing with an eye issue, I use polysporin eye drops. One drop twice a day and it seems to really help. (recommended by my vet)

*Grumbles* Turns out that polysporin eye drops require a prescription down here. Any other over-the-counter eye drops I can use? Or should I trot her down to the vet?

Wow... a prescription. too bad, it has antibiotics in it which is why it's the only one to really help other than the good vet stuff.
How is her eye today?

Polysporin also has an ear and something drop which can be used in eyes...does that need an Rx down there too?

yes, they have different things in the US compared to us in Canada. They cannot get OTC muscle relaxants there etc

And you can't buy Advil Cold and Sinus if you're not a resident of the state you're buying in, in some places. WTF?

*Sigh* California is sooooo stupid on so many levels.

Anyhoo, the swelling around Sophie's eye has gone down to just a smidgen, but I'm currently working with my local rescue to get some eyedrops.
