Just went into the rat room and found my boy not responding to me. He's been having problems with a itchy ear and it bleeding and I noticed that he scratched it again too. When I pet his head all he does is blink which to me says stroke, but this is only what I've seen in the past. He turned himself around somehow though, but mostly his head stays down and no response from him

stroke or severe inner ear infection all need abs and prednisone. Are you able to get him to a vet? If not, strokes occasionally will resolve slowly on their own unmedicated, but if its an inner ear infection or PT then it won't help at all.

I am sorry. :(

Thank you, we put him to sleep last night. We are pretty sure he had a tumor growing in his ear & that's what gave him the stroke. He had a head tilt when we got him from the shelter too. They found him abadoned covered in lice in a dirty cage at a business. So people were not so nice to him, but he never once bit us & he was just a sweetie pie to us. I will miss him my rufus toofus I called him lol. He was well over 2 years old.

I'm sorry for your loss of your beautiful boy. It sounds like you found a little diamond.
I'm so glad Rufus found you and experienced love & care here before he went off to heaven.

what a beautiful little guy. I'm so sorry for your loss Ratmom. Rest assured that your little man is loving you from across the bridge. He will live on in your memory and you will live on in his.

You did the kindest thing in letting him go. The body is only a casing. It's the soul that counts and you helped him heal by being wonderful and loving to him. You will not be forgotten. He will be there keeping your place warm on his personal cloud. :love6: :rose:
