So Princess Ruby and Duchess both went to the vet last Monday concerning the blood in their urine-or what I assume to be blood- vet prescribed antibiotics - she said it would help with Duchess' sneezies as well... I am still seeing "brown" urine all over the place. Should I give the meds more time or what? Am I being too impatient? It has only been a week of them both on meds...also vet said if it is NOT bladder infection they may be getting too much CALCIUM and producing crystals in their pee... I really don't think they get an over abundance of anything conttaining calcium.

Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks.

PS my vet is Dr Prus from King George Veterinary Hospital in Surrey, BC- she is great.

Are they drinking much? I find that urine when concentrated ends up a brownish yellow...check your water bottle to make sure its working well and the lack of fluids is making their urine more concentrated.

That happened to me when I switched to Oxbow. I switched them back to Kaytee for a few days, because I had run out of Oxbow and couldn't get any for a few days. Any way, their urine went back to normal during this time. I had asked my vet and they said it was probably the food, more than anything...
I dunno if thats the same for you, but I thought i'd throw that out there.

Duchess is 5 months approx and Ruby 6 months approx - we got yellowish pee this morn so hoping we are in the clear! I was feeding kaytee blocks before this happened, now waiting for Harlan in the mail. Soon I hope!

Mine too occasionally have a brownish pee. If it's blood, it's usually pinkish or rust and not brownish. But...good to have them checked by the vet always.

I've never thought about diet being a factor but I'll keep an eye on this. Would make sense since food can affect our "out put". lol

Well haven't seen any brown or red lookin pee for 2 days now ... I hope its all over! They are on amoxicilan for a few more days...

Okay so now urine is almost bright reddish after two days of 'normal' looking pee- not sure if it is one or both of them this time... Fudge... Could it be the pink color of the medication??? If its not a bladder infection what else could it be? I will try to schedule them another appointment at the vet soon. Does anything work better than Amoxycilan for bladder infections!?
