The baytril we are able to get is the injectable baytril which we give orally.
I have a couple of questions ...

1) is it safe to use this orally with rats over long periods of time as it contains N-Butyl alcohol?

2) would it be ok to sweeten it with splenda?

After measuring out each rats dosage, I have been sweetening the baytril dosages with honey and mixing with various things such as baby cereal or banana or yogurt or .... to make it less horrible. But you can imagine the long term weight gain from the added honey twice a day. So wondering about splenda as it has no calories.

My girl Penn drinks some of my tea/coffee every day during her playtimes for going on 2 years now. No ill effects that I've noticed, and she actually likes it better than regular sugar.

The little ones seem to appreciate it, too, though I haven't tried them with regular sugar in my tea/coffee.

Hey, you could always clicker train them to eat their meds after a spin in the wheel!!

How do you clicker train them?
I've tried mixing meds in anything I could imagine but they just could tell what's in the sweet treat and refuse to eat it. I ended up force-feeding them although it's like putting up a big fight twice a day!! I'd love to hear any other tricks that would get them to take their meds without being too upset with me.

I believe I read on the Rat Lady's website that rats hate artificial sweeteners. My boys won't touch anything I put artificial sweeteners into. They like honey, molasses, maple syrup and fat free vanilla yogurt. I once tried putting sweetener into plain yogurt but my spoiled, little, connoisseurs simply turned their butt cheeks to it. :laugh4:
