Spaying

Is there anyone here from the Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge or Guelph area that could recommend a good vet clinic that does spays? I've spoken to a few exotic vets in the area and they all look at me like I'm crazy. Spay a rat? Why on earth would you do that?

For the record, I don't currently have any rats but I'm looking to get two ladies in the future. None of my previous rats were spayed.

Im in the same boat, only neuters. 75% of the population here doesnt spay or neuter their dogs or cats, let alone small animals. All my animals are spayed but Ive never attempted rats being done. Good Luck!

My rescue rat vet is in Kitchener! It's Dr. Gerald at Mitchell Animal Hospital. I also get spays/neuters done through a vet in Rockwood, is that too far for you? The vet there has spayed a few rats for me now

I'd take xxchelle's recommendation to heart. Rescues depend on knowledgeable vets to help them save critters and prolong their lives; Michelle wouldn't stick around if they didn't care about the rats. I got my main recommendation/inspiration from LJ who owns Hoodrat Rodent Rescue in London, Ontario and I'll never look back - our vet is fabulous.
