Mama and daughter are getting into small tussles.
I don't know if anything ouchy is actually going on, but when I look, Shasta is power-grooming Starr, and Starr is making an unholy racket.
It seriously sounds like Shasta is tearing her apart, by the squeaking.

For the love of god someone tell me this is normal and Starr is just acting like a kid fussing over a bath.
Because I am about to go insane!

I will try my hardest. I'm seriously impressed that Shasta can give me a tone without even speaking.

Some of my babies, more than others, squeak constantly while being groomed. lol Be glad you don't have 13. :lol:

And some rats are mean groomers! I've seen a few who were a little more vigorous than necessary. I loved the harmony in my cages when Cadillac was the alpha. I never saw her pin anyone, and I never heard any piteous squeaking, during her reign. When Molly took over the alpha role, things changed.

Our Luna and Nimmel(both mostly white) often have little nicks/scabs from Jayden grooming overly forcefully. She gets them upside down and grooms cheeks and throats while standing on them, and if I step up to the cage and ask "what ARE you doing to your sister?!" they just stop and look at me like I'm crazy.

Boy is Starr a faker.
I never really watched BEFORE one of her unholy-sounding fits.

She LAUNCHES herself at Shasta, and clambers onto her face.
Shasta doesn't like it one little bit, so she scrapes her off and starts power-grooming her belly.
So Shasta has been getting in trouble for Starr's behavior.

I feel bad now.
