Well, i had problem with sneezing two times, first time i tryed baytril, it was fine for about 4 months, then the sneezes started again (the same moment i moved to another house), solved the problem with doxy until now, two days ago i moved all my rats to another cage, a big one. and they started sneeze again, all four are sneezing. the cage is made from wood, but is Plywood, there is no smell and i cleaned very well, only dust that cage have are from the lab blocks.

i dont know what do, should i gave doxy again? only stress??

well, thanks

I personally think that sneezing right after a change of environment is probably more of an allergy/adjustment issue - especially having been moved into a wooden cage! I wouldn't be too quick to give an antibiotic - you don't want them getting resistant.

I reccommend echinachea. Buy the fruit flavoured children's drops and give the rats one drop a day on a small piece of bread. A.s.a.p.

we only have echinacia in capsule here in brazil, can i use something else?

the sneezes are getting worse i think...

:gaah:

3 of 4 stoped sneezing, but one is sneezing very bad, i removed him from the cage from about 4 hours, and he dosent stoped.

what should i do? :(

Don't separate the buddies, that will just cause more stress.
What do you use in the cage? Any bedding that could be dusty? What detergent or scents are around the rats? Those could all be factors, as well as smoking around the rats is very bad.
The echinacea is good but not necessary, it's an immune booster but then, any supplement can do that. Feeding blueberries everyday is also a good booster.

Broccoli sprouts are good too, I'm not sure if they help fight disease but they do prevent cancer (also delicious for you  )

My boys sneeze from time to time always, in fact I've never had a rat that NEVER sneezes. I don't know if it's the pet store stock around here or what, but my boys are healthy--just a tad sneezy at times. Yours are probably okay but I understand the worry

oh, thanks for the help, they´re together right now, and sneezing.

I use clean paper as bedding, and there´s nothing around then with smell.

-they are eating, playing, drinking, moving as usual
-there´s no sign of pain
-no alterarion on the eyes/nose (no alteration on porphyrin)
-sometimes, there´s ``Water´´ in theyr nose
-we are in full summer, its very hot here, and dry, but my rats have a personal fan.

what you think?

i´m starting today give blueberrys

Kayratz: broccoli sprouts are very rare here in brazil, but i will buy some broccoli seeds and make the sprouts.

oh, i love my rats, i want make them happy and healthy =D

thanks

There's a special method to make them, if you understand that that's fine but I don't want you to accidentally hurt your rats either! They have to be grown and sanitized in a certain way, here's the wikipedia page to give you more of an idea:
