Smell post surgery?

When I pick up my rats right away after surgery they smell. What is it, the anesthetic (iso), surgical scrub, etc?

Probably a mixture of all those things if they've had surgery *nods* I remember Rufus smelling 'clinical' when I got him back from neutering.

Usually the smell is related to either the gas used to knock them down, or a mix of anesthetic from their pores/antiseptic/cleansers.

I used to hate the smell round their faces after gassing when I was snuggling them post-op at the clinic

I cannot help with your issue as I never had a rat going to surgery and 2nd, I have Anosmia (total lack of sense, so I dont even know what my rats smell like, period)
but I'm glad to see you back on the shack!
you should hang around more, with your knowledge/experience of rats, you're a great asset

Aww thanks. Yeah I plan to, it's really the only other active rat forum. It took me forever to realize I didn't use smesyna as a screen name lol.
