I moved my rats into my living room so they could be closer to everything before they were by themselves and never even saw my other animals (3 cats and a dog) my 2 older boys before I moved into my house were in my old living room and it doesn't seem to phase them that they are back in the center of everything my little boys though were already very skittish but ever since they have been hiding under the liners and are not coming out all 3 of them. I have tried everything and now I don't know if they are even eating they all took food from my hand but would only stick there noses out from the liners to get it no one would come out. What should I do?

It can take quite a long time for the skittish boys to feel safe enough to come out. Can you make sure the other pets can't get right up to the cage? Or have their cage up higher so the other pets can't be near?

I have a double critter nation so I can't really get it up off the floor. But they other animals don't bother them at all they are all used to the rats since I have had rats longer than I have had any of them not necessarily these rats but have always had a mischief.

Ok, so the rats can go to the top if they choose too, that's good. Is that where they are hanging out? I would fill up the cage with lots of hidey houses, hammocks and toys hanging around so that the rats feel more enclosed and secure. Keep going to the cage and handing them treats or even their food so that they start feeling better. Hopefully that will speed up their sense of security.
