but the ``cuts´´ are smaller, i dont think its mites or something like that, because he is the only one with this problem.

I read in ratfanclub that i must clip the back nails, thats correct? but why my rat have this problem?

thanks people

It's likely mites. Sometimes parasites are asymptomatic, sometimes only part of the colony is affected. Treat for them, you'll likely see improvement within days.

It looks a bit like mites. My ratty just had them aboot a week ago.
My other two rats were fine, it was just her.
Treatment is super easy and the results are quick. C=

well, thats a problem, i really dont know what to use...

i never found any of the meds describe in english literature, and we dont have nothing about it in portuguese...

suggestion?

It's common (and what I used) to use Revolution. Our vet gave us enough for all our ratties (just in case). We just had to put a drop between their shoulders and it soaked into the skin and destroyed those mites real quick.

ETA: Not sure about where you are. lol - I assume the vet would have something. Even if they aren't rat-specific. C=

oh, sorry, i´m in brazil.

here have rats as pet is rare, very rare.

found revolution here, do you remember what was the %? 6%/15mg?

oh, but revolution have alcholl in the formulation, will it hurt my rat with the skin problem?

Hm. I'm pretty new with it as well. Not sure if all packaging is the same, but I was told to put two drops on my ratty. Kinda spread the fur out and put on the back of the neck/shoulder area. I'd avoid putting it directly on the cut because I'm not so sure about it.

He'll probably shake a bit (like he's shaking off water) when you first put it on, and may be even more itchy that day and a bit after. That's normal. C=

Like Dazzle said, the alcohol's fine. You just put a small amount on the back of their necks.

Here's information about dosing Revolution: http://ratguide.com/meds/anti-infective ... lution.php

I usually draw out the medicine in an insulin syringe, measure out the doses and apply them with the back of a spoon, and store the left over in the freezer. A tube of the kitten variety will last long enough to treat your rats two or three times, which is enough to get rid of the mites. Otherwise, it evaporates really quickly.

i trated all my rats with revolution, this med is miraculous, two days and all the skin problem disapear.

he is SUPER happy today, running, playing hahahaha

thanks again people
